Postbank has officially announced that July 2026 will be the last month to use the SASSA Gold Card to withdraw social grant payments. All SASSA Gold debit cards will stop working after 31st of August 2026.

Have you switched your old Gold SASSA card to the new Black Card? If not, then the time is running out. According to the official statement from Postbank, the Gold cards will not be accepted after 31 August 2026.

Those who do not switch to the new Black SASSA card will no longer be able to withdraw or access their grant payments. The Gold cards will expire permanently, and they will not be accepted on any ATM of Postbank. Postbank said.

Replace Your Gold Cards with SASSA Black Cards Before 31st August 2026

The Postbank chief commercial officer, Thami Cele, says, “We appeal to all the SASSA grant beneficiaries to switch to black cards who still have not migrated. The July payment period is the last warning for all the applicants and beneficiaries.”

Cele urges all beneficiaries to adopt the new cards before the time runs out. The last-minute rush can be stressful and hectic as well. So this is the right time to get your new black card to avoid any interruption in your SASSA payments.

Despite the first announcement made in April 2026 by Postbank to change their cards, there are still very few people who have done this.

So if you are waiting for the last few weeks or days before the final date, then you may face long queues and delays in this process.

Why Switch to SASSA Black Card?

The SASSA Black Card offers better security, wider acceptance, and uninterrupted access to grant payments. Postbank designed the Black Card to replace the old Gold Card permanently. Beneficiaries can use the Black Card at participating ATMs, retailers, and payment points without facing card expiry issues.

The Black Card also includes updated security features that help protect grant funds from fraud and unauthorized transactions. Beneficiaries who switch early can avoid long queues, payment delays, and service disruptions before the 31 August 2026 deadline.

Choosing the SASSA Black Card ensures continued, safe, and convenient access to monthly grant payments.
